I wasn't on site on the Saturday, the first five photos were taken by Ed so the captions may not be 100% correct. The site was Chaddington Lock at Wotton Bassett (previously known as Summit Lock).

One of the weekends tasks was to carry out the pointing to the underside of the lock tail bridge. Given the temperature of the weekend this was probably the best place to be!

Another task was to install the coping brickwork to the lower wing walls ...

... and to the offside chamber wall

Another view of the lower wing walls

It was also a task to complete the roadway over the bridge which will allow traffic to be transferred onto it thus allowing the temporary crossing above the lock to be removed.

This also meant that the compound had to be moved, here parts of what appeared to be an Iraqui supergun are moved ...

..a the rare sight of a WRG smalley in action!

Meanwhile work on the chamber wall continued ...

... to very exacting standards!

Tea and lunch breaks were a 'find some shade' excersise...

... with the added attraction of an air show which included a flypast by the Battle of Britain memorial flight.

Ed produced a river of blood with the bricksaw!

The bricklaying continued in the heat...

... which didn't seem to bother those under the bridge

Sally appears to be practicing topless bricklaying!!!

A view from the rear of the copings

Martin decided that he would complete each section of coping as he progressed.

By the afternoon break the search for shade was getting harder.

On completion of the lower wing wall copings the scaffolding was removed ...

.. and the putlog scaffold holes infilled

Looking down the canal from the lock how long before it is in water?
