I only got to the dig late on Saturday and was soon in the pub...

... where before long we had scared off the locals and taken over the lounge, ..

... we even let Essex WRG use the same bar as us!

Mind you we do let the odd Essex girl come digging with us.

On site on Sunday morning Adrian was soon preparing coping stones for the new by-wash overflow channel ...

... and Martin was pointing up brickwork laid on the Saturday.

A view of the lock. The main problem is the state of the offside chamber wall which holds up the neighbours garden!

Meanwhile a gang continues to excavate the collapsed by-wash culvert ...

... and Lesley and Steve clear the towpath below the lock.

The trench was getting a bit deep so shoring was installed.

Martin gets help with his work ...

... however Adrian has not quite grasped what pointing brickwork really means.

Lunch was taken on site ....

... away from some oddly dressed bods

Another task for the weekend was to construct formwork to enable a concrete slab to be cast over a ground paddle culvert.

We managed to expose and clear out the collapsed culvert to enable Engineers to assess the best means of repair.

Tim has a go at preparing coping stones ...

... so that Martin and Adrian can lay them.

This is a typical WRG 10:1 mix ....

... 10 people watching one person working (It was late)

Adrian finally got the hang of pointing.

In case you are wondering why people were wearing waders, they were working next to the Roundhouse at Brimscombe clearing a channel though the weeds.
