Some of the photographs taken by Alan Lines

The job for the weekend was to continue the construction of thr new pump station oulet structure.

Part of the works involved constructing a footpath bridge over the outlet stream using old concrete railway sleepers placed upside down.

Phil is constructing the catchpit which enables any sediment in the pumped up water to settle before it enters the basin.

Martin constructs the side walls to the outlet stream, harder than it looks as the walls are sloping ,,,,

... which requires specially cut bricks for the first layer.

Ed finds a friend.

The structure photographed from near the pump station wich will be connected to the catchpit by pipework.

Adrian & Andi fetch topsoil for the landscaping works.

Meanwhile martin and Phil continue the brickwork, notice how Martin is having to temorarily support the sloping brickwork.

Dave backfills the sloping walls with concrete once the brickwrok has reached a sufficient strength.

The Sunday was a Over Basin Open Day which meant that we had ready made resting facilities and staff on hand to make our tea!

Also on site were the local model boat club club with their radio controlled vessels...

... which were slightly dwarfed by the trip boat.

Ed raises the WRG flag to half mast.

Matt ponder how to complete the footbridge...

... which we do by installing more sleepers...

... and a section of shuttering ...

.... which was then filled with concrete.

Lesley supervises the brick cleaning - everybodys favorite job!

We also concreted in a RSJ at the back of the sleepers to keep them in place.

One of the final jobs was to concrete backfill the wing walls and to topsoil the footpath and bank.

Bricklaying and topsoiling teams in action.

Andi helps finish the pointing so that an early(ish) start back to London can be made.

The footbridge and outlet as we left it ...

... after it had been load tested by Alan.
