A few photos from the 2004 BCN clean-up.

The work was on the Wyrley & Essington Canal starting at Horsley Fields junction near the centre of Wolverhampton..

The weather was bright but very windy (& cold!)

Any rubbish was removed from the canal using grappling hooks ...

... and loaded into BW & BCNS workboats

Martin & Dave discover that their is not much rubbish in this end of the Canal!!

Alan seems to be enjoying himself!

Saturdays signing on and lunch was at the British Waterways depot at Broad Street, Wolverhampton ...

... where a lack of seating made for desperate measures!

David pulls out the lunch menu ....

... whilst Liz finds some Newts.

The Birmingham Canal Navigation Society (BCNS) work boat 'Pheonix' - the only boat working on the Sunday

Sue and Rogers new camper van was pressed into service as a mobile tea room.

We did find the occasional rubbish hot spot!

Passing drivers must have wondered what was going on ...

... whilst those on the towpath could see a mud filled shopping trolley being recovered.

With only limited amounts of rubbish to be retrieved ...

.. we managed to cover many miles of canal.

We put on a bit of a show for the press, well Harry Arnold, ...

... before a late lunch, a photo call then back to the accommodation at Brownhills and home.
